The beach
Ban Tai Beach stretches along the north coast between Mae Nam and Bang Rak. The sand is soft, the water usually calm and shallow, and compared to Chaweng or Lamai it stays relaxed even in high season. It is a beach for long walks, reading under a palm tree and slow afternoons.
Getting there
Ban Tai is about 20–30 minutes by taxi from Samui Airport. Ferries from the mainland arrive at Nathon, Lipa Noi or Bang Rak piers — all a short drive away. On the island, shared songthaew taxis run along the ring road, and renting a scooter is the most flexible way to explore.
Sunsets
Because Ban Tai faces west towards the Ang Thong National Marine Park, it is one of the best sunset spots on Koh Samui — and at some times of year you can even catch the sunrise over the water. Right by the sand, about 50 m from Green Flow, there is a small community seating area with a little open-air shrine where locals come to pray. On clear evenings the sun drops behind the islands — arrive around 17:30, grab a drink and enjoy.
